Peru Team Summer 2019

Week 1: Carrickfergus to Tacna, Perú Mark 16:15 “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Where do I begin…I could write a short novel on everything we packed into just over 2 weeks in Perú, but I’ll try and summarise it for you all with the highlights. Myself and May set off early on the Friday morning from Belfast to London, change of airport and then onto Lima where we stopped over…

Month of Prayer

We are powerless without prayer. Jesus said, ‘Without me you can do nothing,’ (John 15:5). As a result, prayer needs to be a personal and congregational priority. September is the start of a new season of ministry within our church and we would like to focus our attention over the next month on prayer. This is a call for the whole church to passionately commit ourselves to pray throughout September as we ask God to work in and through Carrickfergus…

Peru 2019

Two people from our congregation are members of a team visiting Peru this summer: Alex Boyd and May Green. The team is being led by locals David and Yury Fleming and includes people from a range of churches in Northern Ireland. From 20th July the team will be in Tacna in the south of Peru, where John and Lourdes Brew of Irish Baptist Missions, Yury’s parents, will accommodate them. They plan to visit a girl’s shelter, help a local church…

Mums of Little Ones

‘Mums of Little Ones’ takes place on the last Thursday of each month. It is an opportunity for mums to come together to join in a time of fellowship and share in the highs and lows of parenting over a cup of tea and some treats. We finish the evening with someone sharing a bible verse that has been of significance or something they have read, followed by a time of prayer. In this time we pray for our children,…

CB:kids Summer

We have always found that the Holiday Bible Club offers a chance to reach out to children who wouldn’t normally attend our Children’s ministries and tell them of the great love of Jesus. It also helps strengthen friendships within our church family and provides an opportunity to connect with new people. Last July saw the first HBC in our new building. Epic Explorers was a great week with many people contributing to its success. We were thankful for the children…

Simon and Jayne Gibson

A few months ago we began collecting old and unused Lego. A great donation came from a number of individuals and churches, including Carrick Baptist, which we are really thankful for. This collection was with the aim of running Lego based Bible clubs throughout Cavan. In January we booked a community centre and advertised the club in local schools in Belturbet, Ballyconnell and Newtowngore. Very quickly we were full and over subscribed! Again we booked the community centre for another…

Shankill Christian Fellowship – Update

We have been greatly encouraged by the work at SCF over the past few months. In January we began the year with an outreach event, SCF Fit. Around thirty people have been attending the (eight week) event aimed at addressing physical, mental (and most importantly) spiritual health. We are thankful to those from Carrick Baptist who have come along and shared both their professional advice and their faith with those who attend on Tuesday evenings. We are really looking forward…
