Emily Peru Hope Trust

First, thank you for the very generous Christmas morning collection. We plan to use this towards a three-year cycle to replace the school uniform of every child at Casa Hogar El Amor de Dios (about 60 children). Funds were provided for a Christmas present for every child there, and also at New Hope (48 children). Contributions towards Summer Camps for the children in their (current) summer holiday were added. We have moments of turbulence as we try to learn to…

Love

14th February is a day when we celebrate love. We often define love by an experience or a feeling. We tend to think more about what love is rather than what love does. I wonder how many people define love by who God is? In 1 John 4, we read, beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. As we start 2019, can I encourage us all to meditate on Philippians 3:8: ‘I count everything as…

Why we love Christmas – Pamela Dickson

I have always loved Christmastime. As a child I remember the anticipation of waiting ALL night with my younger brother to go downstairs to open my presents, not getting much sleep at all! Then as David and I became parents, having 3 young children and the excitement overload that brought. Christmastime was busy. The Christmas edition of The Argos book came into the house and the children would sit for hours trying to choose what they would like, then of…

Why we love Christmas – David Dickson

I love Christmas! First, there’s the food; turkey, turkey curry, turkey sandwiches, turkey toasties.  Then there’s the music; I wish it could be Christmas every day!  Not forgetting the Christmas movies; Elf, The Grinch, It’s a Wonderful Life. The bright lights of Christmas help to shorten what would be a long and dark Northern Irish winter.  But best of all, Christmas holidays allow us to rest and spend quality time with our family and friends.  What’s not to love about…
