Over the past few months, we have been studying the book of Joshua on Sunday mornings. I trust you have found the series to be insightful and helpful to your own spiritual walk with the Lord. There are so many wonderful and challenging lessons we can learn from the successes and failures of the Israelites as they entered the Promised Land.
In the last chapter, which we will reach at Easter time, Joshua makes this bold declaration of commitment to the Lord: ‘But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,’ (Joshua 24:15).
In response to Joshua’s words, the nation replies with this clear proclamation of commitment:
“The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey,” Joshua 24:24.
These words would make a great motto for our church family as we move forward in the rest of this year as followers of Christ. Think of the spiritual impact it would have on our church and Carrickfergus if we all committed ourselves to serving the Lord and obeying Him.
