Week of Prayer 2018

Week of Prayer 2018

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2:42.

Just last Sunday we thought about four marks of a spirit-filled church (from Acts 2:42), which we want to continue to strive towards.

Through Christ’s sacrifice, we have been brought into fellowship with God and with each other. With this in mind, it seems one of the most natural things we can do as a local fellowship is to pray together. We want to be praying regularly for and with each other. During our week of prayer, this will happen during set times, and also at more spontaneous times as we share fellowship together through the week.

This incoming week we have set aside each evening to pray together. We do this each September as many of our programmes will be recommencing after a summer break.

We do this as an acknowledgement that our fellowship together rests in Christ. We want Christ to be our focus, and meeting together to pray reminds us that we would not exist without him. We want our focus to be on His glory.

We do this because we recognise we desperately need God for all we do. We want to rely on Him as we strive to encourage each other to become more like Christ. We want to rely on Him as we strive to love and serve each other in practical ways. We want to rely on Him as we strive to proclaim the gospel of Christ to those who do not know it.

We do this because we want to be marked as people who believe in the power of prayer and pray together.

Please join us each evening this week (3rd – 7th September 2018) at 8pm in the fellowship room to enjoy this privilege that God has given to us through the gospel.
