A note from Stephen Silverson

A note from Stephen Silverson

Stephen and Silas SilversonMy name is Stephen Silverson. I grew up in Carrick Baptist Church, attending the church with my parents. I have many fond memories of the church. It was through the Sunday School, at a young age that I heard about Jesus and believed in what He did for me on the cross and accepted Him as my Saviour.

At 19, I left Northern Ireland and moved over to live in London. I served at Chelsea Community Baptist Church for 7 years. During that time I met my wife, Julia. We have been married for 4 years and have 2 children – Silas (2) and Eliana (6 months).

We are currently back in Northern Ireland to spend some time with our family before relocating to live in Florida, where my wife is originally from.

Prayerfully, and visa permitting, I will be flying out to join my family on 21st August. I am thankful to God that while I’m back in Northern Ireland I have the opportunity to speak in the church where I grew up. In that sense it feels like everything has come full circle.

This Sunday PM I will be preaching from John 6:1-13 with a message entitled ‘Little is Much’. We will be focusing on the little boy in the feeding of the 5000 story.

On Sunday I want us to see that we serve a God who delights in using little for much. He delights in seeing the underdog win. He delights in upsetting the odds. We serve a God that loves making the improbable, probable and the impossible, possible. He delights in using the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. He delights in using the little things to accomplish His great purposes.

I want us to see this Sunday that our life in our hands may not feel like it amounts to much – but in the hands of Jesus, we can see God do far more than we could ever have imagined or dreamed of.

I’m super excited to share from this wonderful story this Sunday, and I hope to see you there.
