What to expect

What to expect

If you’re thinking about visiting us for one of our Sunday services, here are a few details you might like to know.

What are our services like

Our worship services last just over an hour. They are fairly informal with no liturgy or set procedures. During the service, we worship God through singing and hearing God’s word read and taught.

Welcome

When you arrive, park in one of the spaces provided. At busy times, there will be a Car Park Attendent who will direct you to a suitable space. As you enter the building, you will be greeted by one of the welcoming team (normally they have lanyards with names on it around their neck). Feel free to ask them any question and they can direct you to the coffee bar or the main room. Most weeks tea and coffee are served prior to the Church service and sometimes after, this is a great time to get to know people.

Dress Code

We do not place emphasis on what we wear. When you enter our church you will meet people in shorts, jeans, suits or whatever they feel comfortable in.

Seats

There are no assigned seats, everyone is welcome to sit where they feel comfortable. If you come slightly later, the deacons will happily find you a seat together.

Worship

The music style is modern but has a balanced mix of both newer and older songs. The emphasis of the songs we choose is on the words, regardless of style or age. We sing about five or six songs throughout each service with words placed on two large screens at the front. We normally stand, however, if standing is problematic, feel free to sit. During this part of the service we give an offering, if your visiting just let the bag pass by, you’re our guest.

Sermon

Sermons normally last for about 30 minutes, you can find most of our sermons on the website. We like to work our way through books of the Bible. The passage will be read out, many people follow along using their own Bibles or portable electronic devices.

Communion

Communion takes place every Sunday morning, except for the last Sunday of the month when it is moved to the evening service. Communion is a remembrance of Christ until He comes and a renewal of our commitment to Him. We believe as a Church that communion is for believers. Normally there is a short break before communion if you do not wish to stay, you can leave at this juncture. However, some weeks Communion is incorporated earlier within the service but do not be embarrassed if you do not want to partake, simply allow the bread and wine pass by.

Childcare

We provide a crèche for children three and under which is available for the whole service on Sunday mornings. There is a team of volunteers each week who will be happy to look after your little ones and amuse them with a variety of toys while you enjoy the service.

CB:Kids Sunday is for children 3-11. Most weeks they worship in the main room until around 11.15. The service leader will announce when children can leave, there will be teachers at the back of the church to ensure they get to the right place. CB:Sunday takes place in the upstairs room. CB:Sunday incorporates songs, memory verses, Bible stories and fun quizzes. During the summer months, CB:Sundays is replaced by children’s church with the same format for 3-8 year olds.

Connect is for year 7 & 8 pupils and they meet in 1st classroom on the top corridor.
